SUMMARY:GDI's 3rd International Food Innovation Conference
DESCRIPTION:The Great Food Gridlock: It’s the Consumer\, Stupid!\n \n2000: That’s how many kilocalories a human needs to fill up their belly. Food is\, therefore\, a predatory market: Which products get the biggest stomach share? Currently\, the wrong ones. The result: polluted soils\, dying waters\, painful livestock farming\, food waste\, hunger\, diabetes\, and obesity… We’ve heard it all. \nBut there are alternatives\, from regenerative agriculture and sustainable production methods to alternative proteins and a circular economy to healthier food. \nYet\, consumers don’t seem interested\, even though animal welfare\, environmental protection and climate change are hot topics. Customers look at the price\, and it seems too high to them. They are concerned about their health\, and distrust innovations. They demand taste\, and are not satisfied. \nHow do we get out of the dilemma between price\, health and sustainability? The International Food Innovation Conference is dedicated to the question of how the food system can be sustainably reformed along its entire value chain\, from production to final consumption. In its third edition\, the focus is on consumers. Representatives of startups and industry leaders will discuss with scientists and thought leaders questions such as: \n\nWhat does it take for novel food to be accepted?\nDo consumers need to be seduced and educated?\nCan suppliers survive with better food at lower prices?\nWill healthy diets become the luxury of the future?\nHow do we solve the standoff in the game of responsibility between producers\, industry\, trade\, consumers\, politics\, authorities and regulators?\nWho will be the game changer\, a “Tesla of the food industry”?\n\nThe International Food Innovation Conference will be held in German and English (with simultaneous translation).

Thanks to your loyalty and support\, we are happy to be able to introduce you once again to both local and global initiatives and to seize the opportunities for innovation and collaboration that are available to you. \nThe societal and environmental challenges related to food are numerous and complex. They need to be tackled in a global way and require profound changes from all actors; academic\, economic\, political and society\, hence the notion of “food systems”. \nEverything is connected\, and in order to find a sustainable and beneficial balance for all\, it is necessary to conceive the future of our food all together. The canton of Fribourg is a pioneer in this field with its recent agri-food strategy\, which advocates a systemic\, collaborative and multidisciplinary approach to innovation. \nCONNECT DISCOVER CO-CREATE \nThis 2nd edition is marked by the collaboration with Fribourg Ville du Goût. This is why we welcome you to the BCF Arena to offer you culinary experiences while discovering innovative themes through exciting workshops and presentations. \nThis year\, Bruno Rossignol will do us the honour of being our keynote speaker. SUMMARY:Swiss Food Systems Summit
DESCRIPTION:How can Switzerland’s food system become more sustainable? \nIn the past few months\, the Citizens’ Council for Food Policy and a scientific panel launched by SDSN Switzerland have been looking for answers to this question. \nThe results of these discussions will now be presented at the Swiss Food Systems Summit. The proposals will also be discussed with politicians and stakeholders from across the food value chain. \nFederal Councilor Guy Parmelin will give a keynote speech to kick off the event. The detailed program can be found via these links in German and French. \nGiven that the number of places is limited\, participation is by invitation only. Food System stakeholders can register by contacting the team at info@sdsn.ch.
