the easy choice
The challenge
Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) — including diabetes and cardiovascular disease — are among Switzerland’s largest and fastest-growing health challenges, with significant impacts on quality of life, workforce wellbeing and long-term economic sustainability.
The opportunity
Nutrition represents one of the most powerful opportunities to improve long-term health outcomes and shift the focus from treatment to prevention, creating new opportunities for collaboration across industry, insurance, healthcare and government.

Nutrition4Metabolic Health
A joint initiative with Swiss Re
Throughout 2025, 12 Valley partners came together to explore how food systems could drive better health outcomes. These conversations shaped a shared vision for a cross-sector initiative focused on the role of nutrition in health prevention.
Building on this foundation, Swiss Re — one of the world’s leading providers of reinsurance, insurance and risk management solutions — has partnered with Swiss Food & Nutrition Valley to strengthen and scale the initiative through a three-year collaboration.
Together, the partners will unite stakeholders across food, health, science, insurance and policy to develop real-life cross-sector pilot projects designed to advance metabolic health and strengthen Switzerland’s role in prevention-driven innovation.
Get involved
To maximise the impact of this initiative, we’re looking to collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders – from food manufacturers, startups, retailers and food service partners to universities, insurers, hospitals and NGOs.
