Swiss Cell-based Startup Mirai Foods Secures CHF 2.1M for Product Development
Zurich-based clean meat startup, Mirai Foods, gets massive cash injection to accelerate its product development and transform its prototype into a commercial product.
Founded in 2019, Mirai Foods is a cultured meat producer that keeps the cells as they naturally occur in the animal without using genetic modification in the process. It focuses on three areas: bringing cellular agriculture products to the market quickly and safely, providing customers with better value, and designing products that offer superior health benefits.
To reach these goals, the company needs to accelerate research and develop its first commercial product, starting with beef due to its massive carbon footprint. For this to happen, seven investors raised a total of CHF 2.1M in a first-round financing fund, with backers including Paulig Group and Team Europe.
Our mission is to accelerate the world’s transition to producing food that is environmentally, ethically and economically sustainable. And we want to do it as cleanly and naturally as possible since this is important to many consumers and regulators, particularly in Europe.
