Agroscope is the federal government’s competence center for agricultural and food research and is attached to the Federal Office for Agriculture (FOAG). The Agroscope Council defines the strategy and the Executive Committee ensures the operational management of Agroscope.

Agroscope’s research activities cover the entire value-added chain of agriculture and the food industry and are aimed at a competitive and multifunctional agriculture, quality food for a healthy diet, and an intact environment. Agroscope focuses on research and development for the benefit of agriculture and the food industry, provides a basis for decision-making for the authorities’ legislative activities, carries out enforcement tasks within the framework of legal provisions, in the service of agriculture and the community, and contributes to the exchange of knowledge and technology transfer with practice, extension, the economy, the scientific community, education, and the general public.
